Aldaskeller Wine Co. is on a mission.

Bring natural wine to the people!

At our little retail shop, we source and sell natural wines from biodynamically farmed, organic, and sustainable vineyards and winemakers while providing educational opportunities rooted in environmental justice and sustainable living.

The inspiration for Aldaskeller Wine Co. came from a desire to share our love of wine and its connections to family and to the land with our community. We believe that sustainable agriculture is vital to a healthy climate future and our shop aims to support the growing number of winemakers who are working to make viticulture practices sustainable, going back to their roots through biodynamic and organic farming and traditional winemaking methods that rely on native yeast and reject the use of commercial additives. Our philosophy is that natural wines are better for both people and the planet.

Aldaskeller started out as a pop-up food and wine pairing business in July of 2019. We opened Rochester’s first natural wine retail shop in June of 2022.

Who we are.

Before moving back to the South Wedge in 2017, Brandon was a homesteader and worked at restaurants and wineries in the Finger Lakes region. Erin comes from a small family farm in Otsego County and focuses on Environmental Humanities in her PhD program at the University of Rochester. We live in the South Wedge with our daughter, Fern, and corgi, Piper.

What does “Aldaskeller” mean?

Aldaskeller Wine Co. is named in honor of Brandon’s great Aunt Alda, a first generation American and at-home cellar (“skeller,” in German) wine maker who instilled in him a love of food, wine, and togetherness.
